Once approved as a Local Content Partner, you can post Articles, Calendar Events and Photos on the community portal without waiting for approval from our editors! As an official Content Partner, you will also be able to allow members of your organization to submit articles, events and photos to you for posting within your page on the portal.

The Board of Directors of Branch 20, Fleet Reserve Association, will hold its regular meeting at the Branch Home, 242 Thames Street, Groton, on Tuesday, July 6th, at 6 p.m. All Members in good standing are welcome to attend this meeting.
Branch 20 will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, July 15th, at the Branch Home at 7 p.m. All members in good standing are encouraged to attend this meeting. Membership in the FRA is open to all active duty, retired, and veterans of the Sea Services, i.e., the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. Membership in the LA FRA, or Unit, is open to all spouses, children and step children over age 16, parents and grandparents of FRA members in good standing. Branch and Unit 20’s membership drive continues with a booth at SubFest 2010. All active duty, retirees, and veterans of the Sea Services are invited to stop by to learn more about the FRA and what it can do for you. Thursday evening, July 1st, is Military Appreciation Night and is open to all active duty and retired members of the military from 5 to 10 p.m. Hours for the public are 3 to 11 p.m., Friday, July 2nd through Sunday, July 4th.
Branch 20 will participate in the Town of Groton’s Annual 4th of July Parade at 12 Noon on Sunday, July 4th. Branch members are invited to participate, both walkers and riders. Vehicles are available and more participants are welcome. Call 860-445-0731 for more information.
Tickets are available now for the Annual Fireworks Picnic on Saturday, July 10th, for all members and their guests at the Branch Home on Thames Street. Tickets are $10 each and $5 for children 12 and under. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, chowder and much more will be available from 1 to 6 p.m. or until the food runs out! Free parking is included until the parking lot is full. No personal alcoholic beverages are allowed.
The next Karaoke Night will be Saturday, July 24th. Come on out and join your friends, singing to the music of DJ Max, starting at 9 p.m..
Branch and Unit 20 will hold their Annual Family Picnic on Sunday, August 1st, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Navy’s Admiral Fife Recreation Area on Route 1 in Stonington. Tickets will be included in the Summer edition of the quarterly newsletter that will be in the mail by June 30th. Added to the picnic festivities this year is the FRA’s Widow’s Medallion Program during which Widows of our deceased Shipmates are presented a Medallion in memory of their husband. All widows eligible for this honor have been invited as guests of the Branch. Additional guests of the Branch are the two Little League teams, coaches, managers and their families. Shipmates and their families are encouraged to come out for this fun-filled afternoon.
